Chili Peppers Delight
Chili peppers of New Mexico, delightful in color and taste! This painting was painted on an 8"x8" gallery wrapped canvas.  It was fun to paint with such rich colors. Keeping it hot on these cold, dreary, winter days! I also painted a second chili pepper painting called Chili Peppers Delight Two so they could be a pair.

Thanks for stopping by!

Golden Aspen

Golden Aspen shining in the Colorado mountains. Painted from a reference photo I took on a hiking trip one fall in the Colorado mountains above Durango, Colorado

I love fall colors and this aspen was so striking as it was by itself just beneath a hillside. The contrast of the beautiful fall colored aspen against the dark pines was just a picture waiting to be painted.  God provides us with so much inspiration if we just look.

The Colors of Autumn

My newest painting which was inspired by the colorful fall vines I found on a hiking trip in Colorado during the fall color change. I created this painting in preparation for a show in Miami this coming December. The bright colors were such a joy to paint.

Fall is such a beautiful time when all the colors are changing, who can resist wanting to paint the goregeous colors! Look out canvas here I come with loads of reds, oranges, yellows, browns, what fun!

Till next time..........

Beautiful and bold tulip medley
Beautiful tulips painted in bold orange and pink colors. I saw these tulips last spring on the hospital grounds.  They were so beautiful and bright, that I had to capture them in a painting.  So here at last I have completed a painting showing the beautiful colors these tulips bloomed out with. What fun these were to paint, and a great reminder of this past beautiful spring.

TJ's Cow

TJ's Cow
A moment of curiosity as this lovely Hereford cow takes a moment from her peaceful afternoon of grazing to view the visitor passing by.  I was raised on a farm with cattle  in Texas and I love the peacefulness of a long afternoon as the cows graze their way across the pasture. I was in Las Cruces and we were on the backside of the Organ mountains when we drove through a herd of cattle grazing their way up toward the mountains. This cow was curious and stopped to take a look at us passing through. Her peaceful curiosity inspired this painting of TJ's cow.

The First to Leave

The First to Leave is a painting of baby birds with one ready to fly symbolizing the bittersweet joy when the first one tries his wings to fly and leaves home.

This time of year, such bittersweet joy for so many parents and children alike. As children graduate and are ready to test their wings, we are proud, excited for them, but yet it is hard to let them go.  The years we have loved, and given all to raise and nurture our children, all of the sudden we realize have flown by so very quickly.

This painting was commissioned by a friend as a gift for someone in their lives that is experiencing this year, the bittersweet joy of watching their first child graduate and leave for college.  I,  having two children just a couple of years ago leave for college really  understood the feelings of pride, joy , love and sadness both in the child leaving and those watching them leave, that comes with this time.

My desire was to symbolize the joy, pride and sadness both the child and the parents feel when they reach that time in their lives when  its :  "The First to Leave"

Peacock Blue

Is my Blue showing?
My fascination with the color blue shown in the beauty of this peacock. .

I am fascinated with the beautiful color of blue and I love the color ultramarine blue.  The painting Peacock Blue originated from a reference photo I took when visiting the San Francisco Zoo along with some neighboring peacocks that like to visit now and then.

I am currently working on two paintings, one of birds in a nest ready to leave the nest and a Herford cow who took a moment to pose for me.

Check my website for completion dates and upcoming paintings planned.

Blue Skies... nothing but Blue Skies

Blue skies ... nothing but blue skies. Remember the lazy days of summer when you were a kid? How fun to lay and watch the clouds in the blue skies and use your imagination to see what you could make of them. Take a moment today and stretch your imagination, what do you see yourself doing tomorrow, in a few years from now, what do you want to do! Go ahead and dream, then take action and make those dreams come true. Set a goal - goals are dreams with a deadline. Make your dream come true. Anyone got a Paint brush!

My inspiration for the day:

  • Blue skies and cotton candy clouds
  • Quote: " To accomplish great things, we must not only act, but also dream, not only plan, but also believe."- Anatole France
  • A fresh tube of Ultramarine Blue paint

Today I introduce:  "Writings by Dee".Dee is a most wonderful friend and paints with beautiful & truthful words. Be sure to read her  poem and let it inspire you.

Writings By Dee:

Master Artist

God, the Master Artist,
Paints each day in you.
Every stroke He takes,
Every Move He makes
His lovely Christ shows through.

May we be like canvas,
And have an open weave.
Yielded to His plan,
Coming from His hand,
To trust Him and believe.

We are a masterpiece,
When all His work is done,
Transformed so neatly,
Conformed completely,
Made radiant in His Son.

Dot

A daffy lady named Dot
choked on her food quite a lot.

One day during lunch,
she took such a bunch,
That out of her mouth the stew flew
Landing on shoes, now, no longer new.

What a sight to behold,
What a tale to be told
How can we help poor old Dot?
Who tries to eat such a lot.

We devised a plan
To be oh so grand.
We made a small spoon with a slot,
She now takes much less from the pot.

NEW EVERY MORNING........

New every morning….. What a joy to know we can wake each morning to a new day. This brings new inspiration, new ideas, new subjects which I may have actually seen yesterday but today I see with new eyes that which stirs my soul and encourages my hand to reach quickly for my paintbrush!

My Inspiration today:

1. When I awoke the song flowing through my soul with these words……..The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases, His mercies never come to an end. They are new every morning.. new every morning....

2.This photo I took of my Dad’s sunflowers this past summer. The petals on the left remind me of dancers, dancing in the light. I reached for my paintbrush and thus a new work I have begun…

3. This wonderful art quote……

“Cherish your own emotions
 and never undervalue them”
Robert Henri -out of the "The Art Spirit"

Have a great day!

Art Quotes

A good painter has two main objects to paint, man and the intention of his soul. The former is easy, the latter is hard as he has to represent it by attitude and movement of limbs.
Leonardo da Vinci

Where the spirit does not work with the hand there is no art.
